Am I achieving in my effort to Keep It Super Simple?
Step 4: Master Your Mind
Step 4: Master your own mind. Focus on solutions for your problems and for the priorities you establish. Determine the real cost of fulfilling your family preparedness plan.
It’s human nature to have both beginnings and progress that has fits and starts––and starts and restarts. There are always problems with any venture into difficult, yet necessary, arenas of change.
Thinking and planning––while virtually essential to eventual success––are too often the culmination of one’s efforts––while the execution and implementation are left undone.
Be aware of the centipede syndrome! A centipede, when finding itself upside down, arches its back, wiggles its body, kicks its feet, and strives anxiously to get some traction to turn itself right-side up. Eventually, it will get a foothold and flip itself up-right. It had lots of motility (read: capable of or demonstrating movement) but the challenge was gaining mobility (read: movement or action; the ability to move about), but they are definitely not the same!
Have you ever said to yourself, “I’m going to make more money this year?”
Don’t confuse movement with action!
In James 1:22, we read: “But be ye doers of the word, not hearers only…”
You need to make a commitment to a family preparedness plan. Many people make the choice to become prepared.
What’s the difference between making a choice and making a commitment? This story will illustrate the magnitude of difference:
Three frogs are sitting on a lilypad in a small pond. One hungry frog thinks for a moment, makes a choice, and decides to jump off the lilypad to the bank of the pond. How many frogs left on the lilypad?
Everyone assumes the answer to be 2––but the fact is that only a decision was made––and all three are still sitting on the pad.
Don’t confuse decision with action, either––nor an actual commitment!
A choice is a first step to commitment––not the commitment. Do not procrastinate the day of mounting (determining) and implementing your family’s preparedness plan––you make it become a reality only when you put your decision into action!
It’s as simple as that!
Till next time…
